Custom domain
Share PDFs on your own domain
A proposal from docs.yourcompany.com lands differently than one from a file-sharing site. Connect your subdomain once and every share link, QR code, embed, and share email uses it.

Your brand, end to end
The link in the email, the address bar while reading, the QR code on print - all your domain. Pair it with your logo and background so nothing about the experience says third-party tool.
Connected in minutes
Add your subdomain in Account settings and create two DNS records. The HTTPS certificate is issued and renewed automatically - there is nothing to install and no server to run.
Tracking comes along
Links on your domain report the same page-by-page readership as any FileDroppr link: reading time, the read-through funnel, returning readers, and hotspot clicks.
Safe by design
Your domain serves your documents only - never another customer's - and it exposes just the viewer. Sign-in, billing, and account pages never appear on it.
Why share documents from your own domain?
Trust, mostly. Recipients see where a link points before they click it, and spam filters, IT policies, and plain human caution all treat a familiar domain more kindly than a generic file-sharing URL. When the proposal, catalogue, or report is doing the selling, the domain it lives on is part of the pitch.
The other half is continuity. Your document opens under your name, styled with your background and logo, at an address you own. If you ever leave, the domain is still yours - a custom domain keeps your sharing history portable in a way a third-party URL never is.
How to set up a custom domain for PDF sharing
- Pick a subdomain. Something like docs.yourcompany.com, share.yourcompany.com, or files.yourcompany.com - any subdomain of a domain you control.
- Add it in Account settings. FileDroppr shows you exactly two DNS records to create: a CNAME that routes the subdomain to us, and a TXT record that proves you own it.
- Verify. One click checks the records. The HTTPS certificate is issued automatically within a couple of minutes - no certificate files, no renewals to remember.
- Share as usual. From then on your share links, embed snippets, QR codes, and share emails are built on your domain. Existing filedroppr.com links keep working too.
What changes - and what stays the same
Everything a reader touches moves to your domain: the link itself, the in-browser viewer with your flipbook styling, the embed on your website, the QR code on your print run. Everything you rely on stays put: readership analytics, password protection, the email gate, expiry - the link is fully yours on the surface and fully tracked underneath.
If you remove the domain (or your plan lapses), links fall back to filedroppr.com behaviour and your documents stay safe - the domain simply stops serving until it is reconnected.
Custom domain questions.
How do I share a PDF from my own domain?
On the FileDroppr Pro plan: add a subdomain like docs.yourcompany.com in Account settings, create the CNAME and TXT records it shows you, and click Verify. Every share link, QR code, embed, and share email then uses your domain automatically.
Do I need to host anything or manage an SSL certificate?
No. Your DNS points the subdomain at FileDroppr and the HTTPS certificate is issued and renewed automatically. There is no server, plugin, or certificate file on your side.
Can I use my root domain, like yourcompany.com?
Subdomains only - docs.yourcompany.com works, yourcompany.com does not. Root domains cannot point at a service by CNAME, and you almost certainly want your main site to stay where it is.
Does read tracking still work on a custom domain?
Yes, identically. Page-by-page reading time, the read-through funnel, returning readers, source attribution, and hotspot clicks are all recorded exactly as they are on filedroppr.com links.
Which plan includes custom domains?
Pro ($29/month, or $290/year). One domain per account, and you can change or remove it at any time.
Can visitors tell FileDroppr is behind it?
The viewer runs on your domain with your background and logo, and paid plans can remove the "Made with FileDroppr" badge - so the reading experience is fully yours.
