Automate PDF sharing with Zapier
Connect FileDroppr to the 7,000+ apps on Zapier. Whenever a PDF lands somewhere - a new file in Google Drive, an email attachment, a form upload - have Zapier send it to FileDroppr and hand back a secure, trackable link you can route anywhere.
What you need
- A Zapier account.
- A free FileDroppr account.
- A FileDroppr API key from Account → API keys.
Connect FileDroppr
- In the Zap editor, add FileDroppr as an action app.
- When prompted to connect an account, paste your FileDroppr API key. Zapier verifies it and remembers the connection for future Zaps.
The action: Upload PDF & get tracking link
Choose the Upload PDF & get tracking link action. Map your trigger's file to it (most file apps expose the PDF directly) and optionally set the filename. The action uploads the PDF to your FileDroppr account and returns the share URL and file ID, which you can use in any later step.
Example Zaps
- New PDF in a Google Drive folder → upload to FileDroppr → post the tracked link to Slack.
- New email attachment in Gmail → upload to FileDroppr → reply with the link.
- New form submission with a file → upload to FileDroppr → save the link to a spreadsheet row.
What data is sent
The action sends the PDF you map to it to your FileDroppr account over HTTPS, authenticated with your API key. Nothing else is shared. See the privacy details.
Questions
What can I automate with FileDroppr and Zapier?
Any workflow that produces a PDF. A common Zap is: new form submission or signed document arrives, upload the PDF to FileDroppr, then send the tracked link by email or post it to Slack - so you know when it gets read.
Is there a trigger for when a PDF is read?
The current app provides the "Upload PDF & get tracking link" action. A read-event trigger (fire a Zap when a document is opened) is on the roadmap.
Which Zapier plan do I need?
The Upload PDF action works on any Zapier plan, including the free tier. Multi-step Zaps that chain it with other apps require a paid Zapier plan.
How does FileDroppr authenticate in Zapier?
You paste your FileDroppr API key (Account -> API keys, starts with fk_live_) when you connect the FileDroppr app in Zapier. It's sent only to filedroppr.com over HTTPS and you can revoke it anytime.
